Travel Day 1 Update

August 8,  11:25 pm

Well, we're off!  It was a busy day, but I think we got everything accomplished that we needed to... And if we didn't, it's too late now! We had a great supper with David's parents and both of our siblings and their families... My parents are on vacation and Travis was busy but everyone else was there. I was so glad to get to see almost everyone one last time before we left, especially since we will be gone much longer than we originally planned.

Dinner at Boston Pizza before we left
We made it to the airport and got checked in with no trouble. All 8 bags were under/at 50 lbs and there was no issue with security. The flight left on time and is going well so far. It is 11:25 pm and they just served the kids supper. (adults are still waiting). We are exhausted and hope that things settle down on the flight (dinner over, lights dim) so we can sleep soon.

August 9
Well, the first flight went pretty well. There was a late "supper" and then we all tried to get some sleep.  Thomas fell asleep quickly and easily and probably got 5-6 hours of sleep. I had one good stretch of sleep and then watched a movie. Faith had a harder time falling asleep but then slept well past when they turned the lights back on in the morning. Dave reports that he slept better than he expected. All in all, can't really complain.

Our time in London is going quickly enough. We got hung up in security because I had moved some stuff around and then missed it in the bags the second time (Faith had the toothpaste in her bag, that kind of thing.) not a big deal but it meant we spent a good chunk of time with security.  We followed the signs right off the bat to the free " Family Lounge" and it is awesome!  There are only 3-4 families here at a time, and two staff who actually interact with the kids.  Some climbing equipment, a foosball table, games, tv and room to run and play! And awesome beanbag chairs where I had a nap! We are basically spending the whole time in here, though we did leave to go eat supper. The kids have made lots of friends and are having fun.  Highly recommend the family lounge in Heathrow Terminal 3!

This was Thomas'  favorite!
Charging all our "toys" for the next leg of the trip.
We still have an hour and a half until we have to go to our gate, so hopefully it will pass quickly.

Thanks again for all your prayers and support.
Heather
